What is Jivamukti Yoga?
Jivamukti Yoga is a path to awakening through compassion for all beings grounded in the original meaning of the Sanskrit word asana as “seat, connection”- relationship to the earth.
Therefore earth implies all life. Citing Patanjali´s Yoga Sutra, this method maintains that one’s relationship to others (asana) should be mutually beneficial and come from a consistent (sthira) place of joy and happiness (sukham).
This practice becomes more than a mere physical exercise, it becomes a way to improve one’s relationship to all others and thus leads to the discovery of lasting happiness.
What makes Jivamukti yoga different than other forms of yoga?
Jivamukti is a physical, and different from other yoga practices it is also an ethical, and spiritual practice, combining a vigorous yoga as exercise, vinyasa-based physical style with adherence to five central tenets: shastra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahimsā (nonviolence, non-harming), nāda (music), and dhyana (meditation).
